VAT Relief Explained
VAT Relief
If you're eligible, you can save 20% on most mobility aids purchased from Wuva. Here's everything you need to know.
Claiming VAT relief at Wuva is simple
Eligible products are clearly marked "with VAT Relief" on each product page. During checkout, you'll be asked to confirm your eligibility — no paperwork or medical documents needed.
Who qualifies for VAT relief?
You can claim VAT relief if you (or the person you're buying for) are chronically sick or disabled and the product is for personal or domestic use.
According to HMRC, a person qualifies if they have:
A physical or mental impairment that has a long-term and substantial adverse effect on their ability to carry out everyday activities
A condition treated as a chronic sickness by the medical profession, such as diabetes
A terminal illness
Please note: VAT relief does not apply to someone who is elderly but not disabled or chronically sick, or to anyone who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated (for example, with a broken limb).
Buying on behalf of someone else?
You can claim VAT relief when purchasing on behalf of someone who is eligible. During checkout, we'll ask for the eligible person's full name and a brief description of their disability or chronic condition. No medical documentation is required.
VAT relief for charities
In many circumstances, UK-registered charities do not have to pay VAT on eligible products. If you're purchasing on behalf of a registered charity, simply state this during checkout.
